LHF Scholarship Policy
Purpose: The Louisiana Hemophilia Foundation (LHF) awards the Wilson Traditional Scholarship, the Wilson Non-Traditional Scholarship, and the LHF Scholarship to persons affected by bleeding disorders to assist the educational growth of our community.
Service Hour Commitment Requirement: By accepting one of the scholarships offered at LHF, the applicant agrees to complete a minimum of eight (8) volunteer hours in service to LHF or an affiliated organization approved by the Scholarship Committee.
Wilson Traditional Scholarship Eligibility
To qualify for the Wilson Traditional Scholarship, an applicant must be:

Diagnosed with a bleeding disorder, AND
-
A Louisiana resident, AND
-
A recent high school graduate (within one year), AND
-
TOPS qualified, AND
-
Pursuing an undergraduate degree at a Louisiana college

The maximum Wilson Traditional award is $1500 depending on number of applicants.

Wilson Non-Traditional Scholarship Eligibility
To qualify for the Wilson Non-Traditional Scholarship, an applicant must be:

A Louisiana resident, AND
-
Diagnosed with a bleeding disorder, pursuing an advanced degree in Louisiana, OR
-
The parent of a minor child diagnosed with a bleeding disorder, pursuing any additional education in Louisiana

The maximum Wilson Non-Traditional Scholarship is $500 depending of number of applicants.

LHF Scholarship Eligibility
To qualify for the LHF Scholarship, an applicant must be:

Diagnosed with a bleeding disorder, OR
-
The parent of a minor diagnosed with a bleeding disorder, AND
-
Pursuing any type of post-secondary vocational, trade, or college degree

The LHF scholarship is $250-$500 per semester depending on the number of applicants

Application Requirements
First time applicants must submit:

A completed application
-
Documentation of your (your child’s) bleeding disorder
-
Documentation of post-secondary enrollment
-
Personal essay describing how your bleeding disorder has affected your life and outlining your educational and career goals
Renewal Application Requirements
Renewal applicants must submit:

A completed application
-
A grade report from previous semester (minimum 2.5 GPA required – students who did not maintain a 2.5 GPA will not be eligible for renewal)

Documentation of enrollment for the upcoming semester

Completed service hours report
-
Applicants are eligible for eight (8) semesters of scholarship assistance
Application Deadlines:

If you're applying/reapplying for Fall, submission must be completed by July 22th.

If you're applying/reapplying for Spring, submission must be completed by December 22th.
